Mei Wei is a great early red cherry tomato originating from China.
It is often compared to the classic Gardener’s Delight cherry tomato in descriptions. It is true that it is similar, but Mei Wei is an even earlier type which may give a slightly longer productive season.
Mei Wei apparently translates as “delicious”, which is exactly what we think they are. It produces nice trusses with red cherry tomatoes that can be harvested whole with a secateur.
Similar to Gardener’s Delight, the flavour is “popping”. It is sweet, yet savoury and rich making it ideal for a snack or use in salads etc.
