Gardener’s Delight is a great heirloom variety which has become so popular world wide that its German origins often seem to be forgotten.
It has won the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is for good reasons widely recommended by many garden societies. It is also still a common commercial cherry tomato.
It is a relatively early variety with a high yield of tomatoes during the whole season.
Gardener’s Delight produces large decorative trusses of cherry tomatoes that are sweet and very flavoursome. Some growers note that children often love them. The tomatoes are on the large side (ca 25g) of the cherry type.
Due to its world wide adoption some commercially available seeds have received bad press for losing some of the original good characteristics, possibly due to lax selection processes among seed savers. However, we find that the tomatoes we have grown are close to the common description (sweet, flavoursome etc.) and we really like them.
