Limka is a early climbing french bean that delivers an excellent harvest over a long period.
It received the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 2008 for its consistent high yields, excellent flavour and good performance even in challenging conditions.
The plant is quite vigorous and produces a lot of green flat pods. The pods typically become 25–30 cm long and 1.5–2 cm wide. They are completely stringless and retain their crispness even when fully grown.
The texture is juicy, meaty and tender. Flavours are rich, sweet and a kind of “full bean” flavour. They are excellent in salads, lightly cooked or in sauces.
Limka is also known to have resistance to the Bean Mosaic Virus (V1).

Flat-podded beans are also known as Romano style beans. Allegedly, flat-podded beans were developed in Italy and the classic landrace used as reference is: “Romano d’Italia”, sometimes also called “Romano Italiano” or just “Romano”.
Some examples of Italian dishes using beans are: Fagiolini al Pomodoro (Green beans stewed with tomatoes), Fagiolini all’Uccelletto (Tuscan-style green beans) or Insalata di Fagiolini (Warm or cold green bean salad) etc.
