Yellow Truffle is a hardy and productive tomato that really stands out.
With fruits shaped like lush orange pears it visually stands out in the greenhouse as well as on the plate. However, it is the flavour and texture that impressed us most. It is hard to describe but imagine a great combination between a tomato and a mango and you will have a general idea.
In addition it is a quite productive variety with fruits that store well. As an indeterminate type of tomato it will continue to produce fruit weighing ca 50-100g until the frost eventually terminates the plant.
It is an excellent variety that is known under several other names, e.g. Japanese Yellow Truffle or Trufelka Zolotaya.
Opinions about the origin of the truffle tomatoes differ it is likely it is at least derived from heirloom varieties from the geographical areas of southern Russia, Ukraine and modern neighbouring countries.
Today there are several truffle variants available. The most common ones being Yellow Truffle, Red Truffle, Black Truffle and King Truffle.
